470ARG News Letter 09-09--09

Hello everyone, I hope that everyone is doing well,I cut the grass today so it well rain for a few days again, it seems like it never fails.. anyway had a great net last week , 73 check in's total, thanks to all who stopped by and e mailed in ... Well lets get started with our news letter for this week...
For those interested there is a HF Traders Net held every Wednesday on 3.644, yes this is a Extra Class part of the band, but I must say there is some equipment being listed at some really great prices, and was very impressed with the net, the turn out and equipment that was being presented to amateur radio operaters, it was very refreshing to see good amateur gear being traded and sold...Thanks Ken...and don't forget KG4QPG's Traders net on the 145.230 at 9:00pm every Wed......its a great local traders net.
There is also a Tech Net on 3938 on Thursday evenings at 8:00 pm, have not been able to check this one out as its the same time as the 470 ARG Net, but hope it goes well, its good to have a choice of nets to attend during the evening hours..and enjoy the great fellowship between Ham Operaters..
We have our 470 ARG special event coming up in November under the call W4H again, showing our second great year of being on the air with the 470 ARG Net, digital modes are also in place this year for those who wish to use digital, get those QSL cards early, and as always Cheap QSL has the formats on hand if you wish to use them, we are listed on the ARRL Special Events site again for complete details.
I have been taking requests on the Presidents Volunteer Service Award and will be submitting next month for the awards for those persons who have filled the requirements. the 470 ARG PVSA will be the first this year and the next will not be until next year in late spring.. The 470 ARG is very happy that we was accepted to present this award, and at this point is the only amateur radio group that does give the award... so get your information to me as soon as possible with all information that is required... this award has a letter signed by the president along with a presidential award pin to wear.
Don't forget about the 470 District 6 Skywarn net when activated by the National Weather Service,
The 443.225 Sevier County Emergency Radio Service repeater is working well, and in talking with Kevin a few days again , will be moved to its home here in Sevierville, it serves as a emergency service repeater for SCERS and one of the backups for Skywarn if needed.I would like to thank Kevin W4KEV for all his time, energy and funding of this repeater system, we wouldn't have the system if it wasn't for his great love for ARES, and all the amateur radio emergency services that will be able to use when all else fails...The repeater call is the club call of KJ4HPM, and is listed in QRZ and the FCC Data Base if more information is required about the repeater..
We are working on another Skywarn Class in the spring with the National Weather Service so I will keep you posted..
If your going to be at TenTec please stop by the main tent , the SCERS will be having a table with a lot of goodies to give out from  ARES, FEMA,CDC and the NWS ..  we will be taking applications for ARES and SCERS.. If you would like to join stop by and sign up.
Please check out the website for testing and classes starting in Oct for Amateur and ARECC Level 1 Testing... go to www.470arg.com
Hope that everyone was able to work the 140 ARRL Event and get their certificate..
