The 470 ARG News Letter For 10-14-2009

Next month will be the 2nd year that the 470 ARG Net has been in operation, many thanks to everyone who has participated in the net, and I would like to say thank you to all the Co Founders of the 470 net,especially  Russell, Boyd, Ray, John, Josie, Bo, Eric, Tony,Tim,and Cathy my wife, and especially Tim Berry for allowing us to have the net on a great repeater that has also made the 470 ARG what it is today, we have done so much on this net, and had a great time while doing it !! A special thanks to Russell for the Invocation that he does each week when possible..Danny who takes care of the net while I am at our  monthly ARES meeting, and does a great job on Trivia, A thanks also to Moe, Robin and Tim for their website work for the 470 ARG. And thanks again to all who take part in this net, you all make the net what it is, great hams getting together and having fun and exchanging information between all...The net is known in several states, and further in fact.. For those who have HF and able to work next month, please check the ARRL Special Event listings for times and frequencies, Digital is also listed, or go to the website at   www.470arg.com  for more information.. Our website provides a lot of information ,plus open forums for those who have signed up.. Again thanks to all !! We will be adding a area for a tech discussion on a particular subject after this week also..If you have a question then bring it up, don't be shy !!

Everything has been set for our 3rd Skywarn Class presented by the National Weather Service, the 470 Amateur Radio Group, Sevier County Emergency Radio Service, and the Sevier County Rescue Squad..
Febuary 27th 2010, Saturday at 10:00 am at the Sevier County Rescue Squad, 1171 Dolly Parton Parkway, Sevierville TN, 37876,
Contact Rick Sawaya - N4JTQ at n4jtq@live.com or by phone at 865-429-2422.. We do need to know if you will be attending for our class so that we have enough classroom material from the NWS.
This is a free class, takes about 3 hours, and you will earn your Spotters Certificate and number..You may also contact Bill Hicks W1RFA on the 47 repeater to sign up or myself. You do not have to be a Ham Operater to take this class, it is open to all, emergency personal and general public. Also there will be a ARES sign up for those wanting to become a part of ARES for Sevier County.. Any question please feel free to contact me or Bill ..
You can be from any county or state to take this class.. Again all welcome !!

Well thats all for this week , hope all are well and keeping dry !!
