470 News and More..

Hope everyone has had a safe 4th of July, please be careful on your daily driving as there are still many visitors roaming around and not watching what they are doing...  Also a reminder of the Sevier County Emergency Radio net tomorrow , Monday at 7:30 pm  right after the METERS net at 7:00pm If you can please jion us on the 146.940 repeater, all check in's are welcome after the roll of the SCERS members , you do not have to have affiliation to SCERS or ARES......

Also a reminder that the 470 ARG 4th of July OSO party is still going on till the 10th of July and there are several working PSK 31 that was not listed on the special event calendar so you can also go to  14.070 and 7.070 for PSK 31 operaters.. Have fun and enjoy yourself, hope you all have many contacts, the call is W4H Special Event  but all OSL cards should be directed to your Call on QRZ  .......You can check it out at ARRL Special Events for more details...We had 67  total check in's last week, it's been holding up very well since the 470 ARG  was started, we have several who just listen in and  have sent e mails stating how much they appreciate the 470 ARG net, the information passed, and the Trivia thanks to Danny, and also Russell who does are Invocation when he is able , its a net where all young and old can join in and have fun, thank you all for your participation and loyalty, you all make this wonderful net what it is.... It  is getting a great name among many ham and non ham's who enjoy the fellowship and information that is passed on the net, we have come a long way thanks to everyone. And of course a special thanks to Tim Berry for allowing us to have the net....this net will be coming up on the 2nd year of existance... we are listed on the ARRL Net Directory also,Go to the ARRL Special Event website and look in Nov for the W4H event, another HF event all can enjoy.. If you have a suggestion please feel free to send to me at the e mail below... I would like nominations for the best ham volunteer of the last 2 years, there are some rules on the nomination but if you know a ham who has helped our community out and has a certain amount of hours as stated by the President's Volunteer Award Center which we are registered as a organization thru them they can be awarded a presidentual award, signed by the president  and also recieve a medal to wear proudly.....I would need to know name , address and what he or she has done to volunteer their services and the amount of hours they have put in..... this information will be confirmed...under the 470 ARG President's Award Service trustee...let me know ...
